Organization Structure

DbI has a wide range of members, both corporate and individual, from all over the world. Membership fees are set to reflect the size of the organisation and many individual members contribute what they can afford.

Participation is vital to DbI’s success and its management structure has an active Board which guides its direction, and a Management Committee to provide the engine for action. Everyone involved does so in a voluntary capacity.

The Secretariat performs a key role in managing membership and can answer your enquiries.

DbI has a complete document outlining the organisational structure.

The board is responsible for advising and managing the organisation and meets once a year. It comprises representatives from the large and small corporate members and networks. It considers and discusses all matters related to the strategic direction and operation of DbI in pursuing its objectives.

This constitution was agreed unanimously by the final meeting of the outgoing Executive Committee of DbI on Friday 18 July 1997 in Madrid, Spain, at the time of the 4th European Conference on Deafblindness. It was further amended by the DbI Council at a meeting in Athens, Greece, on 21st September 2002. These amendments were approved by the General Assembly held at the World Conference in Canada on Wednesday 6th August 2003.

Further amendments were then agreed by the DbI Council at a meeting in the Netherlands on 28th February 2004, Kuala Lumpur 18 July 2006 and Perth 25 September 2007. These amendments were approved by the General Assembly held at the World Conference in Perth on Wednesday 26 September 2007. Further amendments were then agreed by the DbI Council at a meeting in Senigallia on Tuesday 22nd September 2009. These amendments were approved by the General Assembly held at the European Conference in Senigallia on Thursday 24th September 2009.
