I. Action Research Working Group
On May 28th, the Research Network held its first meeting during the Deafblind International (DbI) World Conference in Bucharest. In the context of brainstorming potential activities for this network, the suggestion was made that perhaps we should be thinking about the role of action research (also known as practitioner research) in the identification of evidence-based practices and in practitioner development. We also discussed the potential for providing information about how to conduct action research in various settings serving children and adults who are deafblind.
Thus, the Action Research Working Group was formed. This working group is one sub-group within the Research Network. During the network session, five individuals (two from Romania, one from the United Kingdom, one from Canada, and one from the United States) agreed to start this working group. We are open to suggestions for potential activities appropriate to the goal of promoting action research in deafblindness. If you have an interest in joining us, please contact Susan Bruce.
