ICF Core Set and functional definition/criteria of deafblindness: implementation

Deafblind International (DbI) is pleased to share the successful completion of the ICF Core Sets for Deafblindness, developed within the framework of the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF).

This research, supported by professionals, families and people with deafblindness, has very practical output. But as many professionals working in the field notice, the implementation process is not very fast.

The Core Sets serve as a foundational tool for raising awareness, promoting inclusion, and ensuring that the specific needs of individuals with deafblindness are properly identified, supported, and addressed across policy and practice.

DbI extends its sincere gratitude to all partners and contributors who have supported this important work and looks forward to the positive impact these Core Sets will have on improving the quality of life for people with deafblindness worldwide.
