DbI’s VI Partnerships with International Umbrella Organisations

DbI’s VI Partnerships with International Umbrella Organisations

DbI (Deafblind International) has formed significant partnerships with key international umbrella organisations, recognising their vital role in promoting the rights and well-being of individuals with deafblindness. A primary focus of our current strategy is to deepen our collaboration with the World Federation of the Deafblind (WFDB). In addition, we are committed to being more actively involved with the International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI), the International Communication Rights Alliance (ICRA), and the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC), including partnerships with the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC).

Despite these important connections, there seems to be a lack of awareness among DbI members regarding these umbrella organisations and the nature of DbI’s partnerships with them.

To address this gap in knowledge, our focus aims to inform DbI members, DbI ambassadors, and the partner organisations themselves. Our goals are:

  • Make the partners known
  • Make known what they are doing
  • Make known what the collaboration with them is currently focusing on

By doing so, we hope to foster a greater understanding of the collaboration between DbI and partner organisations.
